TheEyrie

Issue 2 - February 12, 2016

Chairman’s Note

Welcome to the second issue of the Mid-South NESA newsletter, The Eyrie which means “Eagles Nest”.

Our initial Eagle Scout networking lunch on Friday, February 7th at Central BBQ was a success, and the attendees all seemed to enjoy this event.  We’ll have another Eagle lunch later this spring and hope you will join us.

We have a busy calendar through the end of March, and hope you can participate in one or more of our scheduled events.  We’ll begin our 2016 Mid-South NESA community service project on Saturday, February 27th at Overton Park where we’ll build a new compass/orienteering course.  We’ll complete this service project on Saturday, March 26th.  Our third annual Gathering of Eagles event will be March 31st in conjunction with the Chickasaw Council’s Eagle Day festivities where we’ll honor  approximately 200 local young men who reached the Eagle rank in 2015.  Our annual adult Eagle Gatherings have been a lot of fun in recent years and a great place to share fellowship with other Eagle Scouts, learn more about what’s going on in the local Scouting program, and to rekindle old memories and friendships.

It’s not too late to sign up for the annual Friends of Scouting dinner on Thursday, February 25th where we’ll help raise funds for the Council’s activities and keep Scouting affordable.  Our guest speaker this year is Daniel Sieberg of Google who will discuss how technology is transforming our lives.  It promises to be a fun night.  To sign up, click here.

If you haven’t officially signed up for our group, please click here to do so.  This will help us keep you informed of our upcoming activities.  Also, feel free to forward this newsletter to any Eagle Scout friends you have so they can join our group as well.

Drop me a line if you’d like to become more involved with Mid-South NESA or the Chickasaw Council’s activities.   I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.

Yours in Scouting,

Phil Blum
