University of Scouting

University of Scouting is a Scout leader’s learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled day of basics, advanced and supplemental trainings where you choose the sessions that you want to take. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers, who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts.

Class sessions are designed to help leaders improve their skills and increase their knowledge about Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, and Venturing. The University of Scouting is a single day packed with a year’s worth of fun, program ideas, and information. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with Scouters from throughout Chickasaw Council.

Considering the limited number of hours a week that Scouting normally claims of a child’s time, it is obvious that the Scouting Movement plays a decisive part in the shaping of his or her character. With this in mind, it is hard to believe that anyone would want to take on this challenge with little or no training at all.

The purpose of a training event is to reach more youth through Scouting. Better training leads to a better program. Better program leads to easier recruitment and stronger retention. Recruitment and retention helps us reach more youth.

There’s more than enough for one person here. Bring several from your unit. University of Scouting features courses specific to each Scouting program as well as general courses that all Scouters would enjoy. We strongly encourage Troops to bring the youth leadership of their Troops as well. We have courses that benefit both adults and youth.

Get your group organized. Make sure those who need those basic courses get the background they need. And to fill in that schedule, try your hand at something new and fun. Challenge yourself – so you can go back and challenge your Scouts.
